IT Operations Reporting Workflow
A sample demonstration of a human-reviewed reporting workflow for turning ticket and uptime exports into a reconciled leadership report.
This is a personal portfolio case study in practical AI governance and IT operations reporting. It uses sample data, not employer data, client data, or a paid engagement.
Why I Built It
IT teams often have useful operational data but still spend time rebuilding the same weekly or monthly narrative for leaders. Ticket exports, uptime summaries, incidents, and open risks may all exist, but the report still depends on someone manually turning raw detail into a clear story.
Generic AI summaries are not enough for that job. A fluent paragraph can be wrong, especially when it invents causes, misses unresolved risks, or reports numbers that do not reconcile to the source data.
I built this demonstration to show a more reliable pattern: deterministic calculations first, AI-assisted drafting second, and human approval before anything is shared.
What The Demo Uses
The demo uses two sample exports:
- 24 service tickets
- availability records for seven services
The data is intentionally small enough to inspect by hand. That makes the quality controls visible instead of hiding them behind a large system.
Workflow
- Validate the files, required fields, reporting period, and metric definitions.
- Calculate totals and rates from structured fields.
- Draft the report under a source-fidelity rubric.
- Reconcile every material number to the inputs.
- Label assumptions, limitations, and missing context.
- Require a human reviewer to approve the final wording.
The finished package includes a leadership-ready report, reusable report structure, prompt and quality rubric, QA checklist, acceptance criteria, and operator runbook.

Safety And Boundaries
The workflow is deliberately export-based. It does not require production credentials, send messages, update tickets, close incidents, or change systems.
That boundary is the point. For consequential IT work, I want AI assisting the parts it can help with while keeping calculations, review, and accountability explicit.
Limitations
This project does not claim paid client delivery, production scalability, vendor-specific integrations, guaranteed time savings, or autonomous operation. Those claims require real deployments and measured evidence.
It is a sample demonstration of how I think about responsible automation: scope the workflow, separate calculation from generation, document the review process, and keep a human accountable for the final decision.
